From inspiring movies to heartwarming tv shows; this month we’ve compiled 5 Netflix tips to help you get through the winter holidays cozily. Here is a list of our top picks for December!

1. The Chair

Highly recommended for comedy and drama lovers is the series The Chair, where Sandra Oh takes the lead as Dr. Ji-Yoon Kim, the new head of the Department of English at the University of Pembroke. She is the first woman and first woman of color to hold this position. Additionally, she’s one of the few non-white people at the university and  has to deal with a lot of uninvited attention because of this. The series has 1 season consisting of 6 episodes online.

2. Found

Found is a documentary about three adopted teenagers who find out they are each other’s cousins through the website 23andMe. Their online encounter inspires the young women to travel to China to confront the burning question about their backgrounds. The documentary runs  1 hour and 38 minutes.

3. Dash & Lily

Dash & Lily is the perfect series to watch to get you into the Christmas spirit! The series is based on the book ‘Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares’ by David Levithan & Rachel Cohn. At Strand Bookstore, Dash, who hates Christmas, discovers a red book containing assignments he must complete. After the assignment, it’s his job to make up his own assignment and leave the book for the next person. Dash and Lily, a big Christmas fan, find themselves immersed in the game even though they have never seen each other before. In time, they want to meet up… The series contains 8 episodes of about 25 minutes.

4. The White Tiger

The White Tiger is an Indian-American drama film based on Aravind Adiga’s 2008 debut novel of the same name. Balram (Adarsh Gourav) is a young man from a poor background who dreams of becoming a successful entrepeneur. He manages to become the driver of the wealthy Ashok (Rajkummar Rao)and his wife Pinky Madam (Priyanka Chopra), whom he serves as best he can, as imposed on him by society. But when he is met with betrayal, he realizes just how far the upper caste is willing to go to protect themselves, and decides to revolt. The film runs about 2 hours and 5 minutes.

5. The Baby-sitters club

The Baby-sitters Club is a series based on the popular book series written by Ahn M. Martin. After Kristy Thomas’ mother has trouble finding a babysitter, Kristy figures out that she and her close friends can babysit instead. Together they start the babysitters club. Later in the first season, a fifth member joins the club. Each episode centers around one character and the problems they face. The series currently has 2 seasons of 9 short episodes each.
